RockMelt
RockMelt is expected to be the next big Social Media focused web browser. Backed by none other than Marc Andreessen, founder of Netscape, RockMelt, acclaimed as The Facebook of Web Browsers, tries to integrate Facebook, Twitter, and complicated social sharing. Its features two search boxes: a regular Chrome-style Omnibox and a special Rockmelt search field. The developers aver that Rockmelt's search feature would get Web results faster, and the search would be as "simple as leafing through a magazine." The left sidebar of easy Facebook access, includies a row of "top friends" with whom you can share content from the main browser by drag or drop. The right side bar is a customizable list of favorite sites and services, with yellow indicators to inform you about new content from a blog or the people you follow on Twitter. Rockmelt also has its own URL shortener, http://me.lt
RockMelt is still in limited beta, you can sign up for the wait list by signing in with your Facebook ID at http://www.rockmelt.com/
The developers assure that all of the personal data on RockMelt servers are kept private by encrypting it.
Ghostery
As a wag put it when we surf we are like the the emperor wthout clothes! Yes, our online habits tand totally exposed thanks to tags, web bugs, pixels and beacons that are included on web pages to keep a tab on our online behavior. Help is on hand say the developers of Ghostery. They say it tracks the trackers to give us a roll-call of the ad networks, behavioral data providers, web publishers, and other companies interested in what we do online. Ghostery can help learn about 200 online companies to make informed decisions about how to control our online exposure to them. Ghostery lets us learn more about each company it identifies - how they describe themselves, a link to their privacy policies, and a sampling of pages. Also, Ghostery allows zero-tolerance blocking of anything ad related, complete (visible) open communication with ad companies, or countless measures in between - determined by us, the informed web user.
