SPlayer

SPlayer is a free, open source media player, assures to play every media format including DVD's and streaming media. Its features include: Lightweight: low footprint, low startup and playback memory footprints, low energy consumption; audio and video equalizer - optimizes audio and video quality to best utilize the hardware specifications; streams any format; a screenshot tool to capture individual frames and three types of interface – minimal, compact and standard; support for subtitles- "subtitle matching" automatically downloads and displays subtitles,supports these formats: aif, aifc, aiff, alac, au, snd, wav, cda, csf, drc, dsm, dsv, dsa, dss, ac3, dts, vob, ifo, d2v, flac, flv, flc, flic, ivf, ivm, mka, midi, 3gp, 3gpp, ape, mp3, m4a, m4b, aac, mpc, ogm, ogg, rmvb, ratdvd, ra, rm, swf, dat, avi, wma, and wmv.

CamStudio

CamStudio, a free and open source Streaming Video software, can record all the screen and audio activity and create industry-standard AVI video files and convert them into streaming flash videos (SWFs) using its own built-in SWF Producer. Among the couple of ways you could use this utility are - create demonstration videos, create video tutorials for school or college classes, produce a set of videos to answer most frequently asked questions, create 'video brochure' for products, record new tips, tricks and techniques which you wish to remember, record a recurring problem to show to tech support, and more. The unique Video Annotation feature helps to add high-quality, anti-aliased (no jagged edges) screen captions. You can even personalise the videos by including a webcam movie of yourself "picture-in-picture" over your desktop. CamStudio's own lossless codec facilitates production of crystal clear videos, a much lesser file size compared to other codecs.
