Video calling

Logitech's Vid, very simple Internet video calling software, is for
the "non-techie", no complicated settings - much quicker to set up
than other major calling apps. With a really simple set-up and easy
to use interface Vid makes it easy using a webcam and Internet
connection. Vid is based on a person's email address, and not on an
obscure username, so no screen names and the hassles. Vid, presently,
does not connect to Skype, AIM and others. However, there's nothing
that would prevent you from using other IM and calling services in
addition to Vid on the same computer. Logitech's Vid is a
straightforward way to make video calls, just add a friend using his
or her email address, wait for your friend's acceptance of your
invitation, make a video call simply by clicking on your friend's
picture - no screen name search.

Broadband Helper

Imran's Broadband Helper Utility might be found useful by readers who

Social network updating is made easy by ShoZu. When logged in, you
will see the list of destinations you have previously chosen on the

Free OCR

Free-OCR.com is a free online OCR (Optical Character Recognition)
tool. You can use this to perform OCR on any image you upload. This
service is free, no registration necessary. Just upload your image
files. Upload a PDF or image file (JPG, TIFF, BMP) from your
computer and Free OCR will process the document/image within a few
seconds transforms them into plain text format. Currently, images
larger than 2MB, wider or higher than 5000 pixels are not accepted
for conversion. Also, there is a limit of 10 image uploads per hour.
No need for any pre-processing of images except that these images
are not skewed right or left. The recommended DPI for the images is
150.
